Kiranto Foods was founded in 1988 by Anders and Kristen Toft with the aim of improving the flavour of food worldwide.

Our History

1988

Kiranto Foods A/S was founded

Kiranto Foods A/S was founded in 1988 by the now former owner Anders Toft. The company was built on years of knowledge and experience in the food industry.

1989

The marketing of spices and spice blends was started

The agreement between Kiranto Foods and Gewürzmüller accelerated the company’s development from a one-man business into a growing company with several employees.

1990

Start of cooperation with ADM

Distribution of soy protein

1996

Start of cooperation with DSM/Exter

Distribution of yeast extract and HVP

1997

Start of production of proprietary blends

Customised “ready-to-use” solutions for the food industry were a growing trend, so it was only natural that Kiranto Foods started producing local customised blends. In the beginning, it was mainly spice blends.

Our production plant is constantly being improved to achieve the optimum flexibility needed to supply customised and ready-to-use blends.

2002

Start of cooperation with Henningsen

Kiranto Foods begins cooperation with the Dutch company Henningsen in manufacturing dehydrated meat and poultry stocks for commercial use.

2003

The company moves to Rugmarken 40, Farum

The premises became too small and many activities had to be outsourced, so Kiranto Foods needed more space. In 2003, the company invested in the buildings where they are located today. The total area is 2100 m2, with office, warehouse, pilot plant.

2007

Start of cooperation with Kündig

Kiranto Foods began cooperation with Kündig by purchasing high-quality dry vegetables and mushrooms for the purposes of incorporating them into Kiranto’s special, functional blends. 

2009

Opening of a powder blending and packaging plant

Blending and packaging of customised blends was growing and had reached a volume that allowed investment in its own production facilities.

Our production facility is constantly being upgraded in order to achieve the optimum flexibility required to supply customised and ready-to-use blends.

2013

Celebration of the 25th anniversary of the company

Registration of the trademark – Kiran®

Kiranto Foods not only develops customised blends, but also its own unique creations. Kiran® is the trademark of Kiranto Foods, covering our own product creations. Kiran® brand covers everything from single ingredients to spice and functional blends.

2017

Blending of extracts

A growing area of the food ingredient business is spice extracts. This was also a growth area for Kiranto Foods, so it was only natural that we invented equipment for blending liquid extracts with powders.

2018

Certification

As the demands for documentation have increased, it was decided that it made sense to get our operations certified. The necessary documentation and procedures were implemented, and in 2018 we obtained FSSC 22000 certification for our production and ISO 22000 certification for our storage.

2019

Opening of a new packaging line

Investing in the company has always been in the DNA of Kiranto Foods. That is why, when we saw that a new packaging line could give us more opportunities to meet the needs of our customers better, we decided to invest in an upgraded packaging line.

Bang & Bonsomer acquires Kiranto Foods

Bang & Bonsomer wanted to expand in the food ingredients sector in Denmark and have more proprietary products. At the same time, Anders and Kirsten had reached the age where they felt it was time to retire. This was the perfect setup for the deal and the contract was signed in August 2019.
